Who We Are & What We Do

The AFF Organization:
Supports the Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and Penn State College of Medicine through fundraising initiatives. Monies raised are allocated each year in support of patient care services, medical research, community outreach, and healthcare provider scholarships.

The Association of Faculty and Friends (AFF) of the Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and Penn State College of Medicine is a non-profit organization with a mission to support and promote medical education, research, clinical care and scholarship; provide a community of friendship to our members through interest groups; and to serve the needs of the community of which we are a part.

The AFF engages in charitable activities in support of these goals.

Founded in 1968, the AFF has a rich history of support through its activities in the community. There are currently 200 members representing the community as well as faculty, staff and administration at the Penn State Hershey Medical Center and Penn State College of Medicine. Fund raising activities have included the Peace Tree, the Spring Luncheon and Fashion Show, and next year’s Gala.

Funds that have been raised through the efforts of the AFF have been given in support of programs including:

  • Scholarships for Medical and Graduate Students and Department of
  • Sensory Awareness Education Program
  • Research
  • Pediatric Trauma – Impaired Driver Simulator and Software
  • Palliative Care – Celebration of Life Ceremony
  • Medical Student Humanitarian Award
  • Children’s Programs
  • Copay Assistance for Cancer Patients

Peace Tree Lighting Ceremony

Holiday Tea at the Gardens

Wednesday, December 8 at the Hershey Gardens from 10 am – 1 pm.

The Association of Faculty and Friends (AFF) of Penn State Health, Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and Penn State College of Medicine will hold a Holiday Tea at the Hershey Gardens in the Education Center located in the Children’s Garden on December 8th from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

A special presentation will be held at 12:30 p.m. by honorary member and president of Penn State Health Milton S Hershey Medical Center Deborah Berini and grant recipient Julie Radico for the “Reach Out and Read” program. Free entry to the gardens will be available to all AFF members on that date. You can join AFF on line at https://pennstatehersheyaff.org/members/

All AFF Members are encouraged to bring a new scholastic children’s book (ages 6months to 5 years). Visitors to the Hershey Gardens will also be able to give books as the gardens will have collection bins for books the first week December. All books will benefit Penn State Department of Family and Community Medicine. Medical students provide free Scholastic books to children ages 6 months to 5 years. For more information visit https://www.pennstatehersheyaff.org/

Board Meetings

Meetings are held the first or second Wednesday of the month from 12:30-2pm.  Meetings are held at the Hershey Gardens and all members are welcome to join. Committee Chairs and Interest Group Coordinators will present updates for their respective groups.  A zoom meeting link is available for all meetings.
